Dynamic Field Investigation Studies

The ability to rapidly assess the disposition of environmental contaminants at project sites is an essential component to restoring a site.

By design, traditional sampling programs collect soil or groundwater samples in predetermined locations and quantity. Samples are collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis. Because the turn-around-times can range from a few days to several weeks, analytical exceedances identified in the results, will have to be addressed in a subsequent sampling event.

With a Dynamic Field Investigation program, in essence, the laboratory is brought to the Site. Environmental scientists collect samples based on field analytical instruments and analyze the samples in real-time (or within hours, rather than days or weeks). The project manager can make sampling decisions based on data obtained while the staff is still at the site and thus, reduces costs for its clients. Although several more samples are collected and analyzed onsite, the laboratory analytical costs are significantly reduced since only confirmation samples will be analyzed.

BES has utilized the Triad Approach at several sites in order to quickly assess and delineate the extent of impacts prior to remedial actions.
